Mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty has been named in the Indian T-20 squad for his outstanding performance in the IPL.


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming tour of Australia. Virat Kohli will lead the team in all three formats. India will play a series of 3 ODIs, 3 T-20s and 4 Tests in Australia. The tour will begin on November 26. The three announced squads do not include openers Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma. The board tweeted that its medical team would continue to monitor both.


Hardik did not find a place in the Test squad and will play in ODIs and T20s

  • All-rounder Hardik Pandya did not bowl after undergoing back surgery. Even in the current IPL, he is only playing as a specialist batsman.
  • Seeing that, he did not get a place in the Test squad, while he has been included in the ODI and T-20.
  • Test regulars Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari are the only players who are not playing in the IPL, they have found a place in the Test squad.
  • Varun Chakraborty, who took 5 wickets against Delhi in the IPL, has found a place in the T-20 squad. While Mohammad Siraj is the new face in the Tests.


Rahul will continue wicketkeeping in limited overs for Team India

Lokesh Rahul has been named in the squad as the opening batsman in the Test team. He will play as a first choice wicketkeeper in ODIs and T20s. He has also been made vice captain in both formats.

While Rishabh Pant has only got a place in the Test squad. There is no other wicketkeeper in the ODI squad except Rahul. Sanju Samson is the second wicketkeeper in T-20 and Riddhiman Saha is the second wicketkeeper in Tests.

In addition to the three-man squad, the Indian team will have four extra bowlers: Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Karthik Tyagi, Ishaan Porel and T. Natarajan will also join.


The Indian team will play 3 ODIs, 3 T-20s and 4 Tests

The Indian team will play the first three ODI series from November 25 to 30. It will then play a series of 3 T-20s in Adelaide from 4 to 8 December. The Test series starts in Adelaide on September 17. This will be India's first day-night Test match abroad. The Boxing Day Test will be played in Melbourne from December 26 to 30. The third Test will be played in Sydney from January 7 and the final Test will be played in Brisbane from January 15.
